Susan A. Murray is a Spear Wilderman shareholder practicing primarily in the area of employee benefits law. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Susan has been representing multiemployer benefit plans most of her professional life. Susan represents Taft-Hartley plans in the building and construction, service, transportation, retail and healthcare industries. In addition to her employee benefit work, Susan also represents clients in the areas of employment law and bankruptcy law, serving on creditors’ committees on behalf of firm clients.
Susan has lectured on various employee benefit topics before various groups including seminars given by the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans, and has served on Merit Selection Committees for judgeships on the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania.
Susan earned her B.A. in Political Science from Brown University, where she had an internship with Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice Joseph R. Weisberger. After obtaining her Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University School of Law, Susan served for two years as an Assistant City Solicitor in the City of Philadelphia’s Claims Litigation Division of the City’s Law Department before joining the employee benefits department of a union-side labor law firm, where she practiced for many years representing Defined Benefit Pension Plans, Defined Contribution Pension Plans, Health and Welfare Plans, Training and Apprentice Plans.
