Emilia earned her B.A. in Criminal Justice from Temple University in 2001 and her J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 2004. Following law school, she was awarded an Equal Justice Works Fellowship, through which she advocated for Eastern European immigrant survivors of domestic violence in matters involving protection from abuse, custody, support, and divorce. She later served as an Assistant District Attorney in Philadelphia, where she continued her work protecting children and victims of crime.
Emilia was born and raised in Poland and relocated to the United States in 1991. As the first member of her family to pursue higher education, she went on to earn both her undergraduate and law degrees, laying the foundation for a distinguished legal career.
Emilia is an accomplished family law attorney with more than 22 years of experience. From the outset of her career, she has been deeply committed to family law, beginning as a summer law clerk with Philadelphia Legal Assistance. Over the years, she has developed a strong reputation for her dedication to children and families, as well as her commitment to resolving legal matters efficiently and amicably whenever possible. She is licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey and is available to assist clients with a wide range of family law matters.
Prior to joining Spear Wilderman, Emilia served as Managing Attorney at Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA), a federally funded civil legal aid organization. In this role, she supervised and mentored staff of 90 attorneys and paralegals and directly supervised three units comprising of 41 professionals while continuing to represent clients in complex family law cases, including child custody, child and spousal support, protection from abuse, and divorce.
Throughout her career, Emilia has been committed to mentorship and education. She has supervised and trained numerous law student–run nonprofit clinics, including the Custody and Support Assistance Clinic (CASAC), the Guild Food Stamp Clinic, and the Domestic Violence Assistance Project through University of Pennsylvania Law School. She has also taught continuing legal education courses on topics such as protection from abuse, custody, and language access for immigrant communities. In addition, she served as an Adjunct Professor at Temple Law, where she taught custody law. She currently sits as a Certified Arbitrator for the Compulsory Arbitration Center for the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia where she hears and decides cases involving civil disputes with a controversy amounts under $50,000.
Emilia is bilingual in English and Polish.
